For fun, I developed an AIM robot that invokes the Auto-Meme API. The bot is powered by a simple Perl script and the code can be found and built upon here.

I developed the website for the young clothing company, JAQK, in late 2009. The website is powered by WordPress, content heavy, and on day of launch received over 2,000 unique visitors. The website includes a blog, media section, e-commerce, and a completely custom mapping application.

The mapping application I developed queries Flickr's API for all photographs tagged with the companies name which are also geotagged. An array of those photos and their coordinates are then sent to a Google Map's embed, using the V3 API. Finally, users can see where the Flickr photos are located on the map.

All in all, the site uses social networking as its core– it is powered by 5 different APIs (Facebook, Vimeo, Twitter, Flickr, Google Maps).

As the Technology Associate at Rhizome, one of my most recent projects was spearheading the redesign of the blog. Points of note are the JavaScript sidebar (MooTools), the alignment blog elements to a grid, and refined typography.

Rhizome, an affiliate of the New Museum, is an organization that "supports the creation, presentation, and preservation of contemporary art that uses new technologies in significant ways."

I was the creative director and designer for issue 12 of Gauge Magazine, a general interest and lifestyle magazine for young people in Boston. My responsibilities included both design and production– from initial sketches to signing the press proof. The theme of the magazine was "bare," which was represented visually by the paper choice (uncoated stock) and minimal typography in a strong grid system. Much of the photography was black and white. 800 copies were printed by Kirkwood Printing in Wilmington, MA in May 2008.

I was the creative director and designer for issue 13 of Gauge Magazine, a general interest and lifestyle magazine for young people in Boston. My responsibilities included both design and production– from initial sketches to signing the press proof. The theme of the magazine was "the death of print," which was represented visually by the small trim size and design elements influenced by technology. 800 copies were printed by Kirkwood Printing in Wilmington, MA in May 2008.

I was the creative director and designer for issue 14 of Gauge Magazine, a general interest and lifestyle magazine for young people in Boston. My responsibilities included both design and production– from initial sketches to signing the press proof. The theme of the magazine was "do it yourself," which was represented visually by the illustrations and choice of typeface (widely available system fonts). Furthermore, the photography section included cell phone photography from readers. The magazine also measured at A4, a standard size for European paper. 1000 copies were printed by Kirkwood Printing in Wilmington, MA in January 2009.
